Thought I'd share some photos of recently made Out and About Pants.

These pants come in sizes 1-4 for both boys and girls. Are made from fine cord with quilters cotton pockets and turn up cuffs. Pants are a long fit and the cuffs do turn up aproximately 5 inches so you can buy in a size too big and have them fit for a while as pants then later as 3/4 pants with the turn up.

If you have a Mini Chef in your house or know a mini chef you need one of JazyJae's Mini chef aprons. They are great for the aspiring Min chef or just those kids who like to help out in the kitchen.
suitable to fit children between the adges of 2 and up to 10yrs (smal 10yrs) with it's adjustable strap for over the head that can be adjusted with the snap closures and the two long ties for around the waist.

All will come in a variety of colours for the body fabric and a pocket of a fun print that is fully lined the pocket measures about 6 inches by 10 inches. The apron is about 49cm in length and about 44cm across at the widest.

I now shall be starting on my Super Kid capes. great personalised item that is made to your childs individual taste.
Just choose a colour combination from the following colours of red, blue, yellow, green, pink,purple, orange. there may be other colours available depending on what I can get my hands on.
Then choose the letter that will be appliqued within a circle on one side.

Then finally choose the picture to be appliqued on the other side. You can choose from kite, guitar, rocket, car, flower, butterfly, plane, boat and ice-cream.

Makes a wonderful gift. Just $20 plus postage.
The cape has an adjustable tie on it so it can fit all children and comes at the length of aprox. 58cm.

I'm back

after a long break I've decided to get back into it all. I miss it way too much and it was a great sorce of keeping me motivated in all areas of my life.
I had a market stall today at an election day market that was a very quiet day yet I made a lot of money even with discounting my clothing stock by 20%. Sorry no photos as I forgot my camera and the battery on my phone is almost dead.
I have made the decision to delete several things. However I do have a load of new ideas so watch this space.
Thankyou to those people who came today and gave me so much praise, I truelly needed it and appreciated it greatly.

Ok somehow my Facebook fan page reached 200 likers as they now call them.
Anyway I will full fill my promise of doing a giveaway when the page did reach 200 fans.

Saying goodbye

I've had to come to a very hard and heart breaking decision. JazyJae's is going out of business. after nearly two years of working my but of I'm saying goodbye.
Not a decision taken lightly. After all I have put my heart and soul into it. Just very recently spent a lot of money on logo designs, packaging and signage. However due to lack of sales and having pretty much every clothing piece copied I'm spent. Way too much money, time and designs lost to pick it all up and keep going.
When your pouring your energies and heart into something that is only giving back satisfaction of creation it is heart breaking. When people scrutinize your work at one market and come back to the next one with pretty much exact work is even more heart breaking then when people who are suposed to be friends it crushing. after all this business was named after my two most gorgeous creations my children so to say goodbye to it is a hard thing to do.
I may keep putting the odd thing here and there up on madeit but I am over it and the politics that come with it.
Over the last two years I have met some geniunly lovely and awesome people. To them I send wishes of great success. I just hope you don't suffer the same fate I have. A few I have formed wonderfull friendships with.
To those who have copied whilst smiling and saying how lovely and well made my things are....."You may be making a load of money now but in time it all will come crashing down and you will have no one but yourselves to blame"
So for now I am slowly selling of my stock through my facebook page and some will go up on Madeit when i have the funds to pay the fees.

I'm raising money for Child Wise

Over at my Facebook page I am running a fund raising sale for a wonderful organisation Child Wise go here to find their about us page. I came accross them when I was in Melbourne for a conferance for my job. The company I work for supports Child Wise through the sale of hand creams that all the proceeds from sales of the creams go directly to their "Stop sex trafficking of children and young people" campaign. Just $27 buys a child all the school supplies they need to go to school which includes: uniforms,books,pencils,backpack. Then $54 buys a child a bike to get to school. Through having just these simple items it keeps children in Cambodia occupied and getting an education which in turn helps prevent them becoming vulunerable from being a target for sex trafficking. The organisation also helps get children and young people out of sex trafficing by providing them a home and education and rehabilitation to go on and become the amazing people they were ment to be.
They not only do great work in Cambodia they also work in the Asia Pacific region including here in Australia.
I was so moved by the presentation done both on the business school day but also actually on conferance day that when I got back home I really could not stop thinking about them....and have not stoped thinking about them since.
I don't seem to be moving many hand creams in my job but I just knew I had to do more and will probably continue to work to raise money for them for as long as I can.
My only other way I could think of immediately to help out was through selling of all my older stock and donate 20% of the sales to Child Wise.
This organisation and what they do really touches my heart. I was a victim of abuse as a child and teen and now I am a survivor so there is nothing more heart warming to me more than knowing there are people out there who are helping to enable our most vulnerable people to become survivors and wonderful people. All people should have that!

Go Dragons

My little girl is a mad Dragons supporter (NRL for those not in the know). I have no clue why she has chosen this team as I don't follow NRL I am a sad Aussie Rules supporter and follow the Demons. She is super excited over her team being in the Grand Final tomorrow. So last night she created a poster.

So tomorrow when I usually would be doing JazyJae's things I am being a good Mum and making her a red and white cake and commining up with other red and white food to be made and eaten, along with trying to calm her down so she does not burn herself out before kick of.

Your little Super Hero!

Do you know a little Super Hero? They all need their very own very own cape!

This one I made for my 5yr old super hero this morning in her choice of colours and motifs.

I shall be making these in a number of different colours and colour combinations. Each one will have a colour matching letter side for the child's name then the other side will have one of a number of motifs. They will fit 2yr olds to 8yr olds.
I like them a lot and think they are super cute and look way better than the mulit run ones out there.

I'm back

I had to take a very long and much needed break from JazyJae's due to so much snowing me under both emotionally and physically. However I'm getting on top of things and making an attempt at a come back. Does that mean I shall be on top? I sure hope so. I also hope that not just about everything I do gets blatantly copied.

I have been busy by getting cutting some simple things first up and cut a number of notebook covers and I am now halfway through the sewing up of them.
There are some summer pants in the making also but will show more on them another time.
I have a few oldies and goodies that have been tweeked a little in my new line along with a few newies. I do hope to be more regular with the bloging of JazyJae's antics as it comes up.

Raising Money for a cause

Been a bit distracted lately. Last week I was away for a conferance for my other job. Then this week I have been real busy with things for my daughters school.
Plus I have been getting things going for selling a lot of stock on my Facebook page. You can fine the album of the sale through here. I am raising money for a wonderful cause and charity. Child Wise Australia they help prevent child abuse and sexual abuse of children and young people. They also do a lot of work with those who have been victims and turn them into survivors.
So go to the Facebook page and purchase as 30% of the sales go to the charity organisation. As will any other sales I make through the month of August.

Today I finished of some more "Princess Skirts". Some very cute ones in there. I really love making this two layered special skirt. It's a lovely full skirt that looks great on little girls who love to twirl.

This is for a lovely friend who passed away after a hard fight of brain Cancer. Tracey Jane Thompson-Chapman passed away in her sleep last Monday night. She fought hard right till the very end. She leaves behind a loving family which includes two boys who are five and three.

She was also a big fan of Bon Jovi and this was played at her funeral today.

I drafted up a pattern Saturday and did a tester yesturday morning. At this point I have drafted it for starting at 9-12mths going up to about 6yrs. Might even get to make them bigger.

The hat will be reversable with one side a large print and the other either plain or a small pattern print. They will come in either both sides a cotton or one side cord and the other cotton fabric. Come next winter will be looking at warmer fabrics also.

I will have them available for sale from August.

I tend use vintage fabrics a fair bit in many of my products. I just love the look and often they also are very soft also. Some prints are just devinely cute or just good old gorgeous.
My vintage fabric collection fills the lower storage area of a 1950's kitchenette I have. If I have more time and money I surely would be scrounging more distance places for more.

Billycart market Report

Today was my visit to Billycart Markets. I was up at the not so lovely hour of 4am and was back home at 6pm.
I got a little lost once I got into Colloroy and Narrabeen...street signs were not so great. However I stoped at a Service Station and the guy working there did not even know where on pittwater Road the servo was on Lucky for me as I walked out a kind young man had pulled up and showed where I was then told me what landmarks to look out for to be able to turn down the right street to get to my destination.

It was bit of a squish in but I get set up nicely.

It was also a lot quieter there today than I did expect but none the less I made some sales and loads of people took my card.

Here is hoping that more people come and follow my blog here and enjoy the lovely things I do.

Out and about Pants

A big thankyou has to be done to Mel who is an amazing woman to do the work she does for the market. She really looks after her stall holders.
I met some lovely stall holders. I even splashed out and bought my little man a vest that is an up-cycled woolen jumper. If I had made some decent amount of sales would have bought my girl one for her as well. I got it from KIX Clothing.

Plus some of the other stall holders included Moosey who do fresh homemade baby and toddler foods. All natural ingredients and they deliver too. great for those who live over in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Mon Tresor who do lovely little accessories and party accessories. There was the most gorgeous stall of wall art that uses vintage playing cards, storybook pictures (something I have done here for gifts), road maps. They are called Twice Designs. I shall be saving my dollars to buy some wall art from them i think.

Goodbye Lawson Markets

Today was another disapointing day at Lawson.....once upon a time the money was enough to make it worth while but this year has been very disapointing and today was the last nail in the coffin of Lawson markets. I am not the only stall holder who is over Lawson either.

The time I spend on making my things and the time I spend at the markets is worth a lot more than what is comming back. I also am over hearing how wonderful my things are yet no one spends the money. even when I marked down a whole lot of product for today.

Anyway I do know my things I do are appreciated just not in the type of market Lawson is....I shall stick to doing my other ones that you can see on the right hand side there.

It was not an entire loss being there today i met someone who really appreciated my work and look forward to working with them soon........more about that another time!

More tote-ing-along bags done.

I finally got around to making more of my tote-ing-along bags. Have been somewhat neglecting restocking these. There were a few still left then after making some for giveaways and a birthday I thought I better also make some for stock as well.
I'm going to start moving away from using the number,alphabet and images from the same fabric panel print to using more prints squares in general so they apeal to more people than a select few plus I am bored of the original patch pieces I used...hmmm there is still a pile of it might have to look into using them elsewhere. More on that another time. the smaller ones probably will stick to the patches I use for now but the larger ones are more likely to use pieces like the pink patch below.

I also made more mushroom ones as they were popular which surprised me plus with no longer able to get that fabric range makes them more special.Below is just a few of what i made.

If I have time left after sewing up out and about pants and other things for Billycart Markets on the 26th I will make some more of these great totes using some special prints I have about in my stash. You will have to excuse the morning sun in these pics.

I think the denim and the vintage linings work well so that is one feature that will stay same goes for the trims on the handles.

I finally have had my logo done professionally.....it only took just over 20 months of working on JazyJae's for it to happen.
The chicken in it represents my daughter and the monkey represents my son, both whom was my influence in the business name. They are also my inspiration for my business and my life.

I am finally getting a new logo designed professionally by the wonderfull Nicole of Ellabella Prints. If you need some professional and affordable graphic design go check her site out for samples and budget friendly pricing. In the past I have just croped from pictures or other things I have found and thrown together something myself.
I have had something in my head for a while now, that actually suits what the business name means to me. After all the name does come from my children, so the logo is being designed around them and the business itself.
With that will come a new look blog and packaging for all the JayJae's products. With hopefully to follow a web store that I control entirely myself fingers crossed.
So keep an eye out! I might even do something to celebrate.

Better late than never

I'm rather tardy on giving a report on my first ever boutique market.....however the week after was spent getting myself and the house ready for a milestone birthday of Little Miss J.
On the 16th of May I did my very first boutique market. This was a huge leap of faith for me, I'm a misstress of self dought and that self dought had held me back far to long. So sucked it up and looked fear in the face. The first market was for Poppyseed Markets which also was the launch of Poppyseed Markets also.

Wow all I can say is that the lovely Poppy did a great job in running her first one and really looked after her stall holders.
I did get lost on my way there as there was no such exit as the one I was looking for on the the M5. Anyway lucky for me I lived in the area I had to go to many years ago so knew my way roughly from the airport.

Once there it took a while to get set up as all my time was being put into putting up a set of shelves for the first time. Hmmmm the problem was s imple one but on those poorly written instructions it was not clear that the shelves had to be turned a certain way. I got there in the end and was selling things right from the moment I was putting my last lot of accessories onto the display table.

I also learnt a little more about setting up for indoors....previously I mostly have done outdoor displays so really was used to using a gazebo to hang things on as well. I did love what I did but will be doing much better next time. I am hoping to get to making a nice set of matching table covers. Sometime before my next market. Fingers crossed!

All in all I did alright in sales, I did not expect too much on my first go and for the first time of the market running also. At least I did better than what I would have had I been at the local market apparently loads of stall holders lost money.

I was surrounded by some very wonderful ladies includinga couple of local gals.

10 pretty dresses for 10 pretty girls

Here is a sneeky look at the dresses I made this week for Poppyseed Markets on Sunday.
Some really cute ones in there. As usual life got in the way of me getting to sewing up a whole lot of stock for the weekend.

I still have a number of Out and about pants to sew up. I don't think I will get to the baby sized ones in time for this market but I will have them available on line at the end of next week.

In case you also did not know about the fact I put in a matching hair clip with each of the dresses.They look great in winter over the top of a long sleeved shirt and leggings or Jeans.

I recently ordered some invites from ellabella prints.
These are for a birthday party that is comming up this household. I have to say I am very happy with the quality and the way the invites turned out and I highly recomend them to yoy for any invites you may need.

each invite comes with a magnet attatched to the back so your invitee can put it up on the fridge as to not forget. She does any kind of invite and will custom make them to your needs including themes and photos.
I also purchased some thankyou cards from her as well. I think a thankyou card is always lovely to give to those who have come along to your special event.

Today I needed to do a photo shoot of some of the clothes in the JazyJae's line. These photos needed to be done to go out for some advertising today. What a headache that turned out to be! I discovered that my camera has bitten the dust and gone to camera heaven. So with the need for photos to go out today had to use the camera on my phone.
Yes I coukld have sent previous photos but I did not have any real photos of the reversable dress actually been worn.
So out I went with my trusty model into the yard with a coupld of dresses one that is starting to be on the short side so it can be seen what it looks like worn as a long top over jeans. The other as a longer dress.
I really like the look of this dress owrn as a top over jeans!
All these dresses are one of designs and are never repeated with the same fabric combinations and I also do try to make sure when I used plain cord on one side that the detail I do on that side is also never repeated in the same way either.
Lots of deliberation and agonising over combinations goes into these dresses. Most of the time the button closure I do is done with vintage buttons.

I just recieved my acceptance to my first Boutique Market. I will be at Poppyseed Markets on Sunday May 16th. It's held at St George PCYC in Rockdale 10am to 3pm.

Winter newbie!

Today I created a newbie for the winter range of Jazyjae's clothes. A pair of pants that will come in both boys and girls and in sizes 1 through to 5.
I did a boys version today to see straight away how they look on.

Each pair will be featured with two big pockets on the pack and a roll up hem on the leg in a contrast fabric. The main fabric will be cord with a cotton feature fabric.

There will also be a baby version with knee patches instead of pockets. Look out for them very soon.

Foundation Day Review

Well what a boost to the ego I had. Made me realise that there are actually people out there that do like what I do and are willing to spend instead of just coooh over JazyJae's creations.

So many of my market days have been filled with loads of admirers but no spenders. Has lately made me feel rather defeated and did start to wonder if all the effort and time was worth it. Given the amount of time it takes to make stock, pack and un-pack then man the stall for a day let alone the costs involved.
Along comes a day like yesturday that made me realise I most likely have been focusing on the wrong target for selling. So I am greatly toying with the idea of giving up local monthly markets and focus on special events not just in my locality but all over the shop in NSW. I had set a time period of 12months then review if continuing was worth it. Well had I not done yesturday my 12 months was well and truely up and I was about to throw in the towel.

So woohoo Jazyjae's is continuing with a new focus.
If anyone has any suggestions on what fairs, festivals or special events they think I would do really well in go ahead suggest away. I can't promise I'll do it but I can promise I will give it good thought.

Anyway as you can probably gather by now it was a success for me yesturday and I met lots of wonderful people who loved and bought.

The parade was great to see especially given this time I was not trying to look over somebodies shoulder but had prime position from my stall area.

Looking forward to next years event!

SpringWood Foundation Day

JazyJae's will be at this years Springwood Foundation Day. It's a great day for the entire family. With many things to do, much like Katoomba's Winter Magic Festival. With entertainment on a stage, parade, carnival rides, food stalls, craft and community stalls and loads of other things to oggle at and do.
This year you will be able to find me in front of the Credit Union down towards the end of Macquarie road heading to Katoomba.
Come and say hello and maybe buy something! I love meeting anyone who reads this blog especialy at markets and fairs.

New Business things!

Last week I had arrive on my doorstep new things business related. A new design from the old as the old was not very clear and I started to not like it all that much.

So now I have new cards, letterheads, car sticker, notepad. There is also a new banner and new car door magnets.
I'll take photos of the car door magnets when the car gets washed and the banner will be in photos from my next lot of market stalls.

Now you can see why I have changed my look of my blog to lovely owl up there at the top.

What's on the sewing table?

Well at the moment I'm in the middle of sewing up new dresses. That is when I find the spare moment between caring for two sick little poppets.
I'm hoping to get the majority done by Saturday for the weekend markets at Glenbrook and Lawson.

Due to the little ones being so sick the hope of sewing up more bibs and shoes are a dream for now. However they should be ready in time for Foundation Day at Springwood.

Fair report

On Saturday was the Awesome Autumn Fair at Blue Mountains Christian School.
Lucky for the weather forcast it was for the market part all indoors. So I new I could have a change and do an indoor set up of my stall.

The turnout for the market was not as much as I would have thought for an event that is hugely advertised up here. Not many people were actually venturing down to the hall for a look into what was inside. So sales were low but the feedback was great.

I had a little helper with me for the day too. She was a wonderful little helper who was very enthusiastic about helping haul everything inside and back into the car at the end of the day. My little girl was also doing her best to try and sell things as well. Very well behaved also for being stuck inside all day.

Awesome Autumn Fair!

This Saturday I will be having a stall at Blue Mountains Christian Schools annual Awesome Autumn Fair.
Come on up the mountain and check it all out. There will be a number of other stalls selling their wares. There also will be a number of exciting things for kids of all ages there. They also are having joy flights in a helicopter as well. Now that is something new!
There will be a huge Auction for a huge amount of prizes. So many fantastic prizes too including a night away for two, dinner in a swish resturaunt for two.
The school is located in Blackheath at 60 Thirroul Avenue.
Hours of the fair are 10am till 3pm.

New items now available

I spent the weekend being very busy.
A long time agao I did attempt to make the following things but due to the coldness in the air I just could not get the glue of my glue gun to be just right for such tiny work.
So now after finally sitting down and not feeling flustered by the lack of succes and it worked a treat this time.

So I now have available little earings that are made from tiny fabric covered buttons and rings made using the same sized buttons.

I think these earings are just ever so cute. They will look just gorgeous in a little girls ears and look dainty in a big girls ears also.
The use of tiny buttons are great to make it just a cute little accessory.

These cute little rings are great for little fingers and if your like me have skinny long fingers they also look great on those fingers aswell. I have made a lot more than pictured many do match with the earings. So you can either buy one or a matching set.

I also have some little hair slides as well now. The hair slides are very strong so do not move about in the hair even on fine hair. I'm hoping to be able to find a miniture version of these hair slides so little toddlers hair will not be over whelmed with these slides.

I have made up a few new hair slides to list on line at my made it store. These slides are fabric covered button secured onto silver hair slides.

I think thay are rather cute for your hair. Their size is a little on the big side for little kids but us big kids would appreciate their size.

They look great in too! Especially on longer hair. Shorter in length like myself looks good too but not as nice as they do in longer hair.

Yes I have finally got around to listing new things online at me madeit store which you can find here or even click on the madeit button over there on the right hand side of this blog.
Listing things online is a big job. First you have to work out what your listing and can either quickly replace or not so much miss for your bricks and mortor store (or in my case under the gazebo). Then making sure you have some good photos of said items, working out how to describe it for the store. Then finding the time to do it. Listing can be a tedious time consuming job especially if your internet connection is being rather slow.
Since I also am still learning and mastering this task it can also be frustrating.
However the positives that result in either a sale or a wholesale ( yes I do wholesale orders) order makes it all worth while in the end.

Reversable dresses

My reversable dresses are proving to be popular. This is some of whats left in stock at the moment. I need to get busy making more.

With these dresses the Spring/summer style have both sides made from either or both of quilters cotton and vintage cotton fabrics.

Each dress is finished of with a delightful vintage button on both sides to match the facing side of the dress.

The Autumn/winter style has either fine cord or heavy weight vintage fabric on one facing with the other in either vintage cotton or quilters cotton as with the Spring/Summer style these also are finished with vintage buttons.

They are available in sizes 1 through to 5. I also do try my best to make sure no dress is ever the same as others made in that same size. So each little girl who has one will be looking as individual as her personality.

Here are just some of the latest lot of Princess skirts I have made. These skirts are so cute on and little girls look very special in them. All are made using fun fabrics in either quilters cotton or with both vintage and quilters cotton fabrics matched together carefully to make each skirt very cute. I try my best to make sure I never make a skirt with the same fabric combinations in the one size so each skirt is an individual one of finished creation.

The skirts range in sizes from size 0 through to size 5.

A friend asked me if she could get a couple of the new skirt I do for her little girls. She fell in love with the one I made for my little one.
This time round I managed to perfect the pattern. The main downfall with the initial skirt was the waistband. Now however they are lovely.

Can't wait to make them in bulk once the silly season has passed.

This weekend was Love Lawson Festival. For the Saturday part of it they have abig family day where there are handmade stalls,community information stalls and local food stalls. This was where I took my first steps in the world of selling my handmade goods last year.

When I started up doing JazyJae's this time last year I had no clue as to how others would react to my things. Especially as the only people who had worn them was myself and my kids. So was greatly nervous about it all. This year much more experienced in how to make my stall look good and how to give everything more of a professional look.

It was another successful year in sales and meeting some wonderful people. Including one customer who came looking for me today at Lawson Public School markets to buy more things and tell me I was her new favourite store.

Whilst there yesturday I found a WAHM who makes cloth nappies and have lined up for her to sew up some nappies for me with the nappy fabrics I have but never have gotten around to making myself. So that was a bonus.

Also got approached by a magazine for something special.......keep an eye out here for any more news on that later. Can't say more than that for now.

Today was Wednesday Handmade Wonderfuls email out. One of the featured products was from 2941. I met these lovely girls on Saturday at St Finbars fete. They were in the stall next to mine. Gorgeous girls with gorgeous products.
I really loved their clutch purses if I did not have the need to pay for new glasses this week I would have bought one.
They were good company for the times that seemed to drag out. Including a good laugh for myself. Also purchased a few things from me.

Lovely Fabric

On Monday I headed down the mountain to Fred The Needle. Surprisingly I purchased very little.... never have I bought so little from there in the past. They also have a blog here.
I really love going down to the shop. Once you get past the scrapbooking things you walk out into a wide open and bright area. Bright not only because of the lighting but also the fabrics.The walls are so lovely filled with gorgeous fabrics to oggle and touch.
I recomend the store as a drop in if your in the area. If you live nearby you should go visit.

So look out for totes, shirts and a few other things featuring these.

New things, practical things!

Last night I made up some groovy notebooks. This was a test batch for how my basic ideas looked. The notebooks I used in these ones were from smiggle and now I can't get them anymore pity as I love these ones. Will have to use another style of notebook for future ones. Plus I'm testing the pattern on the thinner yearly diaries too.

I intend on adding trims and fun patches on future ones. Also playing around with a way to have a pen holder on it too. I like the combination of different fabrics. This also gives me a chance to use some fabrics I have been stashing away till I found a purpose for them. I had no clue what I'd use these fabrics for before and now I finally do.

I really like them and they are so quick to make up. The time consuming part is working out what fabrics to combine with each other. This part can be distracting as I go through my fabrics and discover some I had forgotten about or fall in love again with others.These ones here are just a few of what I made up and that were not sold today at the St. Finnbars fete.

I finally got around to sewing up my apron to use when I'm doing markets and fairs. Very simple with saved selvages from some fabrics and a bit of black fabric along with a ribbon I had sitting in a draw un-used. The selvage pocket has been backed with a bit of calico.

Today I took the trip down to Penrith to visit a couple of stores to stock up on some fabrics. I plan on making some cute summery skirts to add to the stock.Plus some more Jazy tops in readiness of summer weather and that allows for cutely dressed girls enjoying the sunshine.

My machine decided yesturday whilst I was trying to get the stock for the weekend done that it was time to stop working well and to be taken for a service. Tension is out and nothing I do helps make it better. Wish I could just give it a Bex and a good old rest.
Nope! Not as much stock as I anticipated has been replaced for the weekend. Why could it just not wait till this time next week?
So apologies in advance for not having some of the things I had wanted to be done in time.
However next month expect loads of Christmas themed stuff to be available.

Not much to post about in what's hapening here in jazyjae's land in the way that I have taken photos anyway.
However I am busy trying to get things prepared in time for the weekend of markets at both Glenbrook and Lawson.
Plus I have a card order to complete as well.
Lately I have had people asking aboutt he bunting I use on my gazebo at markets and if it's for sale or they can buy some. So yes soon I will have a few for sale but will be moe doing it as a custom order thing. In that people can give me colour scheme ideas and possibly themes as well. This way it will match where ever they want to put it. Have been toying with the idea of doing birthday and Christmas ones as well.

Other things going on include washing and ironing of fabrics for JazyJae's products.

Birth Fair report!

Yesturday was the Blue Mountains Birth Fair.
I had a stall there with most of my stock. It was a wonderful day indeed!
It was such a pleasure to be in amongst all the wonderful people there. The other stall holders were all lovely. The people attending the event were just as lovely and wonderful. It was so good to see that parents were allowing their kids to be kids instead of yelling at them constantly for running about the place. None of this rushing about that sometimes happens at other market/fairs.
A truelly wonderful day even if the weather was cold and overcast. The rain was good to us and waited till we all had pretty much packed up.
I finally bought myself an Ergo Baby carrier. Master J is now way to big for a sling and still prefers to be carried over the pram. Wow they are fantastic, I should have got one of them instead of the sling I did in the first place. So comfortable it's almost like your not carrying a toddler at all.
Unfortunately I did not get any photos of my stall or the other stall holders.
Miss J had a ball running around with a couple of the other kids about, playing with hoola hoops and play dough, she also watched the Belly Dancing and thought that was great. She thought it was great to have her face painted like she was a rainbow too.

I did leave my bunting behind though so need to hope either an organiser retrieved it or the community centre has it.

Missed yesturday's posting but hey I was out all morning, then home briefly working in the yard. Then went out looking for building materials for backyard things. So nothing to do about the day that I could post here.

Last night though I made a pile of cards and now my display box is nearly full again. Busy cutting and glueing whilst watching Celebrity Master Chef.

This display box my mum made ages ago. Has a bunch of storybook pictures all over it.

MiniTote-ing-along bags Done

Last night I got to actually get these little cuties done. With Christmas coming up so soon lots of little girls could see these in their stockings come Christmas morning.

They are small enough to make a great stocking stuffer.
So cute! I've seen little girls about with these after they have been purchased from my market stalls and they look so pleased to have a little bag just like Mummy does.

A Recipe for you!

You can't have creative juices flowing without a belly full of good food. So here is a recipe of mine for you. Now I'm one of those cooks that experiment and rarely do true measuring. So forgive the use of dollops and handfulls etc. This recipe is enough for 3 genorous adult serves and 1 childs serve

Xena' Spaghetti Meatballs

Ingredients

For meatballs
You can use what ever mince you like I flitter to what is on special or looks good.
500gms of minced meat
2 medium sized eggs (free range are best especially if you can get your hands on fressh eggs)
2 heaped dessert spoons of ricotta
2-3 cloves of garlic finely chopped (depends on the size of the clove or your taste)
a pinch of freshly ground sea salt and black pepper
a handfull of torn parsley
a few leaves of basil roughly chopped or torn
1 slice of brown bread crusts cut of and wizzed up into crumbs
A good handfull of freshly grated parmesan
For tomato sauce

1 medium onion finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic (you can ommit if your not much into garlic)
2 tins of chopped tomatos
3 bay leaves
1 1/2 cups of stock I use beef stock when cooking up lamb or beef and chicken when using chicken, pork or veal

Plus enough spagehetti to feed your tribe or whom ever its for

Method

Throw all the meatball ingredients into a large bowl and dig in with your hand and mix it away till well combined.

Look at the orange of those yolks my chookies are good chookies

Once all mixed up together form the meatballs into size that suits you, mine is about a 5cm or so size

Place the balls on a plate then cover and chill in fridge for about an hour or so

In a frying pan with high sides and a lid put the chopped onions and garlic with a splash of olive oil and cook till onion is clear.
Remove from pan and set aside.
Add a little more oil heat up pan then add all the meatballs evenly spaced apart. Brown on all sides. Then throw in all the sauce ingredients. Bring to a slow boil. Reduce heat to a low simmer. Then keep on low simmer for about half an hour stirring the sauce occasionaly, only slightly moving the meatballs to minimise the break up. After this put the lid on and continue a further half hour.
Once you have been simmering your sauce for the hour cook up your spaghetti.
Serve the meatballs and sauce on top of the spaghetti and add some freshly grated parmesan.

This comming Saturday The Blue Mountains Maternity Coalition is holding a Birth fair. At this event you can see local stalls such as myself. There will be face painting, Ruby Bloomers Circus Playspace for kiddies or the young at heart. Information on Katoomba Maternity Unit, Doulas, Independent Midwives Child and family Health, Australian Breastfeeding Association ond health organisations of the Blue Mountains. Loads of activities and things of interest that are family related and that support the Community especialy services related to birthing in the mountains.
Also you can indulge at the Slow food Cafe, chai and sweets.
Come along for a fun day to Lawson Community Centre from 11am till 3pm.

....are some projects waiting to be made.

There are Storybook Greeting cards. My Storybook Greeting Cards are blank cards with a picture from vintage storybooks on the front. Some of the pictures are from books that old that the feel of the picture is like fabric. Each card has a matching envlope. With the envelope I put a little matching picture on the front. very cute little cards I think. Need to cut out some Christmas themed pictures as well.
Plus there are mini tote-ing-along bags all cut out ready to be sewn together. When I first started to make the tote-ing-along bags I used to put a plain lining in but for the last few months I have been doing a vintage fabric lining instead. Doing that just makes the bag all that much better and suits the style of patches I usually use. The mini style ones have ribbon handles instead of the denim with ribbon trim the other sizes have. I hope to get to them tonight.

These fabrics I picked up whilst on holidays in Melbourne. They were found in the great quilting shop Amitie.
I think the yellow ones will make great dresses and maybe skirts too. Those chicken are so cute!
Then the black and white rock print will make great patches for tote-ing-along bags and shirts I think.

Hah could be a disaster but oh well that's part of the fun and the challenge. A Fab. new shop called......

"Lark" is the name and don't you forget it.
Another stop in JazyJae's travels was to visit Alison's new shop. Lark is located in 4a Duke Street Daylesford.
It was a wet and dreary day. What else could be expected on the 27th September. After all it is that way every year Mr JazyJae's and I want to spend that day outdoors. Hmmmm yes a special day for us. "Tis the day we were married and that day was a wide range of weather conditions from gale forced winds to sleat.
Once we arrived in Daylesford we headed drove about to see if we could spot the store. I had left the Blue Mountains before any final details were posted on The Lark blog of where she was located. Could not find it. So went to the Information centre...they had no clue what i was talking about. So we went up to the markets, hoping that some crafty lady would be there who could tell me where I could find Lark. Nope no such luck ther. Next idea was go back into the centre of town and just ask a local shop owner. Of we went. By pure luck the first store that looked as though they would know what this " crazy gal" was talking about happened to know exactly where I should head. Thankyou Ex Libiris lady!
Stupid me was so bedazzled by the cuteness of the store and chatting to Alison I forgot to pull the camera out to take a couple of photos.
I did buy things though!

I'm at The Local Shop

Last week the JazyJae's family took a road trip down south to Melbourne. One of our stops was to pop on into a lovely Shop call Local Shop which is located at 262 High Street Northcote.
The lovely Gale runs the quaint little shop. Inside you will find a gorgeous array of flowers at the front. What a way to entice people in but through the beautiful smell of gorgeous flowers. Past the flowers then a lovely water feature you will spy just to the left some JazyJae's tote-ing-along bags. I was there to not only take a gander at the store but to drop of the latest order for the shop. Twelve more bags in total with two new designs in there. All of which I forgot to take a photo of.

Pity I did not get to catch up with Gale on the day however her lovely employees were great. Especially the girl in there who kept Miss J entertained with her curiosity of what all the flowers there were called.

Market Wrap Up!

What a whirlwind weekend!
Friday evening I had Hazelbrook Public School Fete. I did intend on taking photos but by the time I finished setting up there were kids everywhere.....so taking photos was out of the question. It was surprisingly a good one for me. I was not really expecting mush to happen being a small school fete, but I did alright there recieved a lot of positive feedback. Positive feedback is always a welcome thing!

Saturday as usual was the Rotary Glenbrook Public School Market Day. over all a lovely day was had. Even after at the beginning I was abused by a fellow stall holder. Who accused me rathr rudely of stealing ideas from his wife. All while I had customers looking at my items. I will not say what items I was accused of stealing. However I will say it was the first time I had a huge quantity of all my things ( a very productive month) and I had also changed the way I presented many of my things so they were more obvious from a distance. This was the first time I have seen him look at my stall. I never have even really looked at the products in question on his stall. I also have bought other items from them and recomended them and raved about their other products to others. I have been making the items in question since towards the end of last year. Just because you were first at Glenbrook Market does not mean you own the monopoly on them!The only newish thing there were my rings. All the rest I have been doing long before I started at Glenbrook back in March.

Anyway further on! I had a great day there yesturday lots of friendly people about and many many customers. I sold a lot of magnets and a few dresses....so will be busy replenishing that stock.
Today was Lawson's Magpie Market. A disapointing day as I had been moved and was in a not so good spot and did rather poorly in the sales department. However next month I will back in my usual spot as I have been garunteed that spot for all future markets. So anyone who came down and saw I was not in my usual spot and did not come further into the quad area a big huge apology. I will be there for now on.
My purchases for the weekend included on Saturday I bought an extremely gorgeous clutch from Alison of Berlinski fame. Just devine is her work. Her clutches, bags and belts are so so soooooo yummy! I have put in an order for her to make me a belt to match the clutch I bought from her. She is always at Glenbrook Markets and has a lovely stall full of her items. Great for a way of making that lovely outfit extra special. All the ings she makes are one of items. All are made from vintage fabrics, trims and doilies. After buying the belt I might have to get one of her bigger bags.

Then today I bought a swamp girl softie from Skye at Happy Monkey Tree. She has been named Pheona. She also happens to match up with Delihla which I blogged about here. they both are wearing the same coloured dress. Next on my list from her will be one of her sock monkeys then a big monster.

What is s'pose to be our dinning table has not been so for about a year now. Why? Well as any crafter would know the family looses their dinning space to the crafter of the family. this is especially so to those who do it for a little more than a hobby. At least till they get their own studio.
Well at the moment our dinning table is a place for JazyJae's products that are either waiting to be made up, packaged or ready for sale.

It doesn't always look this organised. Till last night after I finished cutting about 15 dresses, there were piles of fabric on top of everything. to the untrained eye it would have looked like a cyclone had dumped a pile of fabric on the table. When in fact it was an organised chaos of fabric grouped together for possible combinations.

Now you see the aftermath of the pre-cutting and partial packaging process. All my small badges are made and in the process of being packaged, same goes for the small magnets. All hair accessories are made and just about completed in packaing. Rings are done and in their display box. Dresses, bibbies and most of loopy monsters are cut ready to be sewn. Large badges are halfway there in being made as too large magnets. Bags still need a few more cut up.

I'll be burning the midnight oil all week I think!

Over the last few days it has been very busy here in JazyJae's land. Lots of work going on. All in anticipation of the big market weekend from the 18th September to the 20th September.

Do ypu lie cute magnets that are a bit different from the standard one you can usually buy in a chain store? If so you have to check mine out. They look fantastic holding up that all important kids art or any important piece of paper on your fridge or noticeboard.

So more magnets have been made as they have been a good focus of interest in the past.
Lots of cute designs are in.

Some for little child in your home tight up to the big kid in yourself.
Makes a great little gift too.

All are made from a fabric covered button and a very strong magnet. So strong that I was able to make one work through a kids wooden table top.

Vintage Button Rings

Late last night I made a number of rings. All with vintage buttons featured. Very cute they are. After I each one I was very tempted to keep one for myself.
They are just so lovely.

What a way to finish of any outfit. To show of some unique bling.....OK it doesn't sparkle but sure is eye catching to wear one of these fetching rings on your hand.

Envious friends will want one of their own.

Each ring is an individual piece, so no one else out there will have one like it. The ring itself is adjustable.

Hazelbrook Primary Needs you!

They do indeed! Well if your a creator who sells your creations at markets and or on line.
As I have mentioned in a couple of my blog post Hazelbrook Primary are having a market night (well evening actually) on Friday 18th September. They need a few more stall holders to make it an enjoyable night and to provide a wide variety of shopping oportunities.
You need to have a blog or an online store so they can check your goodies out and best be that your in the mountains.

"Loopy Monsters"

Meet Pip and Pop they are "Loopy Monsters".
These are my sample run.The ones that I will have for sale will have slightly smaller faces.
Each "Loopy Monster" will have an individual look about them.
I use mostly vintage buttons for their eyes and belly buttons.
Fun cute little creatures are these "Loopy Monsters" Pip and Pop are best friends.

Pip is a girl who thinks her best mate Pop is the coolest boy "Loopy Monster" around.
